Your photo never leaves your device. The AI runs in your browser: MODNet (Apache 2.0) for people and ISNet (Apache 2.0) for everything else. They download once from Hugging Face and are then kept by your browser. We only count downloads, never the pictures.

Questions people ask

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The background is removed by an AI model running in your browser. Your image is never sent to our servers or anyone else's. The only thing that is downloaded is the model itself, from Hugging Face, the first time you use the tool.

Is it really free?

Yes. Previews are free and unlimited, with no watermark. Full-resolution downloads are free up to 2 a day without an account and 5 a day on the free 7-day trial, which needs no card. A paid plan (from $5/month, see /pricing) makes them unlimited.

Which photos work best?

Leave it on Auto: it uses a portrait model when it finds a person and a general model for products, logos, pets and everything else, and it checks every result. Any photo works on any browser, including iPhones; the general model is slower on phones. For a perfect edge, zoom in and use the Erase and Restore brushes.

What file do I get?

A PNG. With the transparent option the background is see-through, ready to drop onto slides, a website or a design. With white or a colour, the background is filled in.

Can I use the results commercially?

Yes. The pictures are yours. The AI models we use are released under open licences that allow commercial use (MODNet and ISNet, both Apache 2.0).

Why does the first run take longer?

Your browser downloads the AI models once (about 7 MB for people, 42 MB for everything else) and keeps them, so the next photos start much faster.
